These flavorful steaks are essentially individually cut prime rib roasts, and they come from the cow's upper rib area. Ribeyes are fatty, which allows them to retain their juiciness even when cooked over very high heat.
At CD&J Mini Ranch our USDA and State Certified processor cuts our steaks anywhere between 1.5" to 1" steaks. We prefer the thicker cuts but we are dependent on our processor.
Is it better to cook a ribeye in the oven or on the stove?
If you've ever had a steak, cooking it on the grill can be delicious. (We feel the same way about pork steak.) However, the best way for cooking a steak is by searing it on the stovetop and then baking it in the oven!
